• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Found these after removing LH deflector panel - anyone know how/where these are placed?

I hear ya! I have been looking and racking my brain trying to remember what all I was working on before this, or during this while I am waiting on parts! You know, you never just have one project going on... I have yet to find the source of these parts tho. Apparently they are just 'extra'...

Found these after removing LH deflector panel - anyone know how/where these are placed?

Yes, thank you Mike. I only think they came from this because I only cleaned up a small area of my work area and found them in the debris. But I cannot find anyplace they really seem to fit on this assembly, and they are pristine clean, whereas the bolt are rather grimy and dirty looking. And...

Found these after removing LH deflector panel - anyone know how/where these are placed?

Thank you! Yes, I've seen 'locking washers' similar to this before in my years of machine maintenance, but the strange thing is, these things look pristine clean, and the ears do not appear to be bent on them... the picture shows them just as I found them on the floor! Looking at the frame...

Found these after removing LH deflector panel - anyone know how/where these are placed?

Hi all, 2008 GS here, took off the LH deflector panel and when I went to clean up I found these 2 fasteners with square holes in them. My guess is they are some kind of retainer for the hex bolts, but not sure where to place them. The holes in the frame are round and threaded. Anyone know how...

2008 GS parking brake will not click or engage, even tho the cable is moving. Not locked on, I can roll it by hand - any ideas?

So, it's been a while, lubrication didn't bring things back to 'normal', and I noticed some fraying at the lever end of the cable. Fraying of the teflon (or whatever) that the cable is covered with. It may be sticking inside the cable jacket. I ordered a new brake cable and have installed it...

2008 GS parking brake will not click or engage, even tho the cable is moving. Not locked on, I can roll it by hand - any ideas?

Well, I think you are definitely on the right road: After lubing the shaft (around 17), I knew where to be looking. I watched as the cog went into the tooth, I watched the little spring there for the cog and it seems to be okay. I lubed up around there too. It seemed maybe to be working...

2008 GS parking brake will not click or engage, even tho the cable is moving. Not locked on, I can roll it by hand - any ideas?

Thank you, I will head out to do that. I've been studying parts diagrams of the brake assembly thinking I might need a new cable, and boy, they are not really available! I will certainly try your suggestion and report back.

2008 GS parking brake will not click or engage, even tho the cable is moving. Not locked on, I can roll it by hand - any ideas?

Okay, here is what I have found; the brake is adjusted close enough that I could not get a ratchet from the adjuster wheel. Put it back together and the brake set fine, 4 clicks and it set. Unset it, tried to set it again, no dice; no clicks, no set. It appears that the cable is not being...

2008 GS parking brake will not click or engage, even tho the cable is moving. Not locked on, I can roll it by hand - any ideas?

The pedal travels all the way down with no clicks. Thank you Ron, I went out and checked the clearance to the 'back post' and it is very wide, so maybe it did stretch that much! I am going to try and adjust that a bit and see if that is the problem; thank you so much. Had to use a mirror to...

2008 GS parking brake will not click or engage, even tho the cable is moving. It's not locked on, I can roll it by hand. I had this bike parked in my garage, just rode it a few weeks back in a warm spell, parked it, and set the brake. I was working in the garage today and I needed the space; so...

Do I need LED headlamps with built in resistors? Any recommendations?

Replacing the shift switch on my SE5

Ok, well, a bit of follow-up. I ended up going to BRP and buying a new shifter assembly. Just this weekend I put it on. The worst part was pulling the darn connector pod thru the maze and thru this one small rectangular hole that already housed 2 other cable assemblies! Finally got it...

Wish me luck - Replacing the Paddle Shift! '10 RS

A little late, but just I saw this and wanted to say that I too had check engine pictures, and scrolling love notes about the tranny every time I shifted into reverse and every time I downshifted. I gave up downshifting, and almost always played games getting reverse to shift. I tried a few...

Anyone else seen an 08 GS Clutch Release Cover oil leak like this?

Oh Boy, for some reason I only just now saw your post about the internal O-ring. Not sure why I missed this post, I saw the others! Anyway, I did get the new gasket washers for the banjo fitting, and I installed them this weekend. No big job there, but there WAS a small amount of oil that...
