• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any Modification recommendations from those who tour on their Spyders?

Although my Spyder is an antique, I do still tour on it. When I bought it in 2015 I immediately took off with some friends for Sturgis 75th Anniversary. By the end of that ride, I knew I had to do something about the seat. I couldn't swing the price of a custom seat, but I did talk to Dave at...

Your Favorite 1 Week Vacation by Spyder Travel?

If I only have a week that is 4 days days out and 3 days back with the 3rd day a hard push. Depends on the time of year. I assume since you are asking now you mean for Spring/Summer/Fall this year. Since you have done the Dragon many times, I am guessing you generly head East from Wisconsin. Why...

RTL - brake pad replacement intervals. Just replaced my pads at 21,000 miles. Is this a fair mileage?

@TOY-TK, you didn't say what the thickness remaining on your pads was when you changed them out. The pads are actually good down to 1mm, quite thin. If you had more than that you could have gone longer. I under stand your desire to clump a lot of the work into one session, I find it interesting...

After 3 years of planning, I am riding Route 66 starting June 8

The SCMA is doing a 100th anniversary ride this year. Just register with them, then send in pictures taken at designated spots. Go when and how fast you wish, just send in the pix when done. Looks like if you do register and finish you get some nice swag and your name listed as a finisher for...

2010 Spyder RT - anyone know what vacuum hose goes?

The Spyder he is showing in the video is not an RT so some things will be different. The first thing I noticed is the screws in the cover. He shows removing the chrome screws in the lower part of the cover. The RT has similar looking screws, but do not try to remove them, they are push in studs...

Anyone removed the clutch cover on the Right side of an RT SE5? What else had to come off? Anything fall out?

Final post to the final post. Last week 3 12 2026, I actually got the right side body work put back on my Spyder. When I took the right side off to move the radiator I forgot to take pictures, so of course I could not remember how it went back or what bolt holes matched up to what... Between...

Where is everyone getting SE5 Oil Filter and Oil these days?

Just read back thru this thread for the fun of it. There is some good basic information here both for VTwins and 1330 3 cylinder. One thing I did notice and it is a very small point. Our Spyders do not have a " crush " washer on the oil drain plugs. They are regular copper flat washers and as...

Anyone heard of the new app from Gates for Belt tensioning? Anyone tried it on anything?

Has anyone heard of the new app out by Gates to set the tension their belts. Have you tried it yet or is it only useful on TriGlides and trike conversions using belts?

Spyder shopping - 998 vs 1330, is the 1330 that much better?

I have owned a 2012 998 V-Twin SE5 RT since 2015. I now have 81,000+miles on it and it is running strong. I love my V-Twin. Your biggest problem is going to be finding someone to work on it. Parts are pretty common and there are salvage yards also. If you can do your own work you will be ok...

I am on the board almost every day and yet somehow missed all this until today. Thank you for all you have done to further the cause of the Spyder. I hope that your cancer stays in remission for the required 2 years and you are not long thereafter in finding a suitable Liver. As a famous...

    Stopping a Spyder

I know this is a very old topic, but since I started it, I feel OK about resurrecting it. The original question has not been answered or really even addressed as it changed to a driving at night topic. I really don't care about driving or not driving at night. That is a topic I already employ...

What you say is true, Peter, but it all boils down to whose agenda they are going to design to? It is always to that of whoever signs the paycheck.

They have a different agenda than the mechanics who do the repairs. They do not look at the agendas of anyone else.
