• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sliding off floor lift (GAH!) - What do you do to keep your Spyder from sliding off the jack?

A picture would help understand this better. Thanks. This is very good advice, I think, about using (any brand) ATV-style motorcycle lift for simple lift of a Spyder, then securing with jack stands. The problem is finding a lift with a minimum height less than 4", to clear the undercarriage of...

I built support blocks to raise the Spyder for oil changes etc.

It depends on the ramp. If yours lacks adequate raised portions that reduce rolling off, use small chocks made of wood, plastic, metal.

What did you do to/with your Spyder today?

My wife is tougher and more adventurous than I am. Sounds like you have a real keeper, too.

Lifting the rear of RT swing arms with a modified HF MC lift - Wanted to share and get feedback.

400# on the rear, so something like this lift/stand on Amazon could handle the weight. I'm not sure you could get in close enough to the axle to gain a purchase.

Now the Pitbull lift has been discontinued, is there an alternative?

I considered a lift table, but decided against it because space in my garage is at a premium and I couldn't imagine having to deal with that big, cumbersome item for long. @hogmemberisold has a good idea, for sure. See post in thread 'Lifting the rear of RT swing arms with a modified HF MC lift...

Now the Pitbull lift has been discontinued, is there an alternative?

After watching this video from Pierre, I would have to agree the Pitbull is not just a standard ATV-style motorcycle lift. The frame is longer, for one thing, so it reaches far enough under an RT without having to remove the floorboard, as might be the case with smaller lifts. The wheels seem...

Lifting the rear of RT swing arms with a modified HF MC lift - Wanted to share and get feedback.

I think the motorcycle stand/lift you're referring to would be beefy enough, but the RT axles don't extend past the swing arms, so I don't think it could work https://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Wheels-Capacity-Adjustable-Swingarm/dp/B0FZC3NK3P?th=1

I noticed that, and it's one of the ideas that got me thinking about how to better utilize my HF lift. One thing led to another...

It also makes for a secure lift of the Spyder, which is bolted to the Big Blue using U-bolts at the rear shock mount and the right driver floorboard mount. There's really nothing to compare with the Big Blue as far as securely lifting the entire bike 24"+ with the ability to make easy...

Lifting the rear of RT swing arms with a modified HF MC lift - Wanted to share and get feedback.

Thank you for noticing about the rear shock mount not to be used as a lifting point. Strange that Big Blue does exactly that. Thank you. Like other ideas it's not for everyone but some may find it solves a problem or two for them, as it does for me. Thanks for the response. Please note this is...

Lifting the rear of RT swing arms with a modified HF MC lift - Wanted to share and get feedback.

My intent is to fabricate a u-shaped "platform" for each lifting arm that will cradle the swingarm, then I won't need to set jack stands if I'm wrenching on it. Even for me, this would have been overthinking the simple task of airing up the tire! I wish I had this tool when I was installing...

Lifting the rear of RT swing arms with a modified HF MC lift - Wanted to share and get feedback.

Good question. I was looking for a way to get the back end off the ground more readily; the front end is relatively straightforward (ramps, trolley jack under the main frame), but the back end less so, with so many pieces of undercarriage in the way. The ideal spot to lift the rear end is the...

Never thought I would say this, but... I'm thinking about returning to the world of two wheelers!

Can-Am used to sell a heavy duty all-weather cover that I used when I had to store the Spyder outside, so look into getting one of those if you're going to keep the Spyder. The bike will be fine.

Lifting the rear of RT swing arms with a modified HF MC lift - Wanted to share and get feedback.

In these pics, I've extended the two platforms so they reach further under the swing arms. You can see the platforms are offset to the left; that's because the swing arms are also offset from the wheel, to accommodate the belt drive sprocket. It's actually pretty stable side to side at full...

Lifting the rear of RT swing arms with a modified HF MC lift - Wanted to share and get feedback.

Brainstorm (I think); why not make a fork lift out of a cheap motorcycle lift to lift the back of an RT without having to crawl around on the ground? This is a workaround I came up with, using a 20 year old Harbor Freight lift I wasn't otherwise using any more. The trick is to remove the cross...
