• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

A GPS clock would be a great option.

Is the Alternator shaft squeal just a nuisance, or is it damaging anything?

I am so sorry to hear your story. I know the dealership had time and money invested. But how is it that they can say the squeal is gone when it is not! And how can they charge for a problem not corrected? I'm not looking for answers as the questions are rhetorical. It is not the way to build...

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

#14 - Mission Valcourt, Canada. Somehow, Lamont got in tight with the engineers at BRP very early on in the Spyder experience. A typical event in his life. I was impressed, of course, but by then, not really surprised. It just seemed to be the natural progression when he got into a particular...

Need HELP?! My Spyder is running Hot at High Speeds?

With a dry sump system, your oil level would have to be very low to create an overheat situation. Your coolant does the lion's share of heat removal. This is why restricting airflow through the radiators can be so critical. Seeing as how the OP has a 1330 motor, famous for using zero oil, it is...

Any idea why my Rear Shock Bolt bends in the middle?

Here is an example of the Zip Tie setup. This is a car shock. But the process is the same. As you can see, the bump stop can be on either the body or the mounting end. All the powersports shocks I've seen have the bumper on the mounting end. But I am not familiar with the M2 design. I agree...

Any idea why my Rear Shock Bolt bends in the middle?

It is easy to check for bottoming out, which will tend to bend the shock mounting bolt if it is severe enough. There should be a rubber or poly bumper at the eye end of the rod. Bottoming will leave signs on that bumper. Frequent or severe bottoming can split or even remove this bumper...

    'The Lamonster Chronicles'

Thank you, Lamont, for filling in the holes I left in these stories. Between us, I think we covered things pretty well! #13 - Boating Adventure! Lamont and I (and others), used to go to Baja quite a bit. (This is how I got my handle of BajaRon) I had a 14' aluminum boat that I carried on top of...

Newbie to Spyders - I've just bought a 2012 RS Roadster! Have I done the right thing?!

At some point you will want to be sure that your power steering (DPS) is working properly. The Spyder is a bear to turn if it is not.

Pulling to the right under hard braking - anyone else? Any fix?

Raise the front wheels off the ground and spin them by hand. They should drag slightly, but they should spin relatively freely. If one wheel is dragging more heavily than the other, you may want to look at your calipers. This is not the only thing that could be causing this, but it will be a...

Anyone purchased a helmet from Europe?

I have to agree with your final assessment. If it is really about safety, then an ECE helmet should definitely be allowed. But it's just another example of illogical liability driven policy that we are drowning in.

Need some tips on replacing a Bad Brake piston gasket - any ideas?

If the rear caliper piston has the 2 rotation attachment points, it doesn't matter what year or model you have. Everything from 2013 on is the same.

Here's some Weird Misinformation about Spyder RT's!!

2 reasons for that. They look faster than they are, and the Speedo goes to 200 km/h. On the originals, this was analog so it showed all the time. With the advent of the digital gauge, this is switchable. The original V-Twin GS & RS probably have the highest top speed. The F3 next with the RT...

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

Exactly! You don't have to ride like Evil Keneivl to know that fun is the primary factor for owning a Spyder. It's All About The Ryde!

Need HELP?! My Spyder is running Hot at High Speeds?

I think we will all be waiting for the outcome on this one. And we will be happy if this resolves your issues. Pauly1 has good advice. You can use compressed air to get loose leaves and accumulated debris out from the area when dry. But do not use it to blow out the radiator fins unless you can...

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

This conjurs up the biblical visual described by Jesus in Matthew 23:24 (to strain at a gnat, and swallow a camel). Granted, I've taken this quote out of context, nor do I mean to infer the original intent upon anyone in this thread. I hope the analogy is not offensive. Every decision is a...

Anybody see a measurable change in fuel mileage with larger diameter rear tire?

With a 3-5% reduction in revolutions, your measured fuel mileage would go down 3-5%. But in reality, you're going 3-5% further for the same mileage reading, giving you a wash. There are other factors involved. But essentially, though your math may indicate a reduction in fuel mileage, your...
