• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    New front tires - Potenza

I have Potenzas on the Spyder aired up to 17 psi for the past 8,000 miles or so and I think that is plenty given the weight of the machine.I would think that 25psi is excessive.

    throttle body

Yep... my error. The dealer called it a recall but it was not.... just an upgrade to a better model.

    Replacing battery

The OEM battery is by far the best IMO. One tip... buy from a dealer and ask the dealer to put the battery on slow charge overnight at the dealership and have it installed the next day. The battery life is extended exponentially when the plates are allowed to absorb the electrolyte for a long...

    throttle body

Some 2010 and 2011's were shipped with throttle body firmware that was overactive and caused problems. There was a recall and most throttle bodies were replaced. Check with the dealer to make certain your throttle body was one of those affected.

    A Little History

This week we observe Veterans Day here in the USA. Since I was raised in Canada I remember this as Remembrance or Armistice Day. It dates back to 1918 when, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month World War One ended and the Armistice was signed. In 1926 the United States also began...

    Rotating front tires

We do not rotate Pam: We have owned four RT's in this family and except for one unfortunate experience have never rotated the fronts. I dismounted and remounted the fronts on my 2011 RT at 11,000 miles at the same time I replaced the rear tire for the first time. There did not appear to be...

    Block heater

Run an extension and put a 100 watt bulb on the floor under the engine. That should keep the oil warm enough to allow you to spin the engine without much trouble. That plus a battery tender or a battery blanket to keep the electrolyte warm should do the trick. I did this for a few years on an...

    MC Endorcement in GA

I had already secured my MC endorsement before moving to Georgia but we bought a Suzuki Burghman for my wife (whose MC endorsement had expired) and had it triked before she took her Georgia tests. She first went to the test center in Lithonia where the testing officer told her he could not...

Service Alternatives to Can-Am Dealerships in Albuquerque or Santa Fe New Mexico?

It's sort of like having your Tesla S serviced at the local Firestone tune up store.... it ain't happenin', baby!! The Spyders are so specialized, your everyday mechanic or service tech wouldn't have a clue and perhaps would make matter worse if they were to attempt service and/or repairs.

    Dashboard rattle

My low speed rattle turned out to be a leaf that had blown up under the Tupperware. As speed increased it got pushed up so it didn't rattle but a idle or low speeds it just rattled away.

    Pre-paid service

Almost all service agreements are with the dealer who sold the agreement. Unlike warranties service agreements only cover service at that dealer. I think the Marietta CanAm dealer also owns Lithonia Springs, Conyers and Lawrenceville locations but even those shops may not honor a service deal...

    Service fees by dealerships

You got scammed. Show the owner's manual to the service manager and ask him/her to show you where that is covered. If you do not get satisfaction and if the service was recent I would...... a) stop payment on the check or, b) tell the credit card company you dispute the payment or, c) tell the...

Has anyone tried this "Brake assist device".

My wife had a similar problem with her RT when she added the ISCI hand brake. Her right arm has nerve damage and she did not have enough strength to operate the hand brake safely. We visited the guys at ISCI in Montgomery AL where they engineered a left side hand brake using a Harley Davidson...

Bob: Not to rain on your parade but I would think it would be the NET members who are worth noting. The GROSS number of members on the list no doubt includes those who have passed on, dropped out or are otherwise inactive. For example, I looked up Nancy's Toy, who used to be an active...

    Spyder changes coming!

Translating versus interpreting Thanks for the post. Jogged my memory back a few years. The problem with getting the meaning of something from one language to another is a critical one and is particularly evident in Canada where there are two official languages. Back in the mid sixties I was...

Can we have a reasonable discussion about this?

Why go back in time?? Many years ago automobiles came with spark advance controls on the steering wheel and hand throttle controls and hand choke controls on the dash. New inventions ultimately eliminated these devices. Customers complained about losing these critical controls that they said...

    Hand Brake Question

Bruce: My wife had the ISCI braking system installed on her RT. It is engineered for the right side. She found that due to nerve damage in her right arm that she could not apply enough pressure with her right hand to activate the system (It takes a lot of pull to activate something that works...
