• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

"Before operating read safety card" message will not go away, parking brake staying on - anyone had this happen? How did you fix it?

The 2019 has 2 SAFETY RECALLS. Front sprocket and transmission output shaft - depending on mileage. You can look at the front sprocket and see the color. The replacement is light silver-ish gray. The black or white one is incorrect. Transmission shaft and software update (software update is not...

"Before operating read safety card" message will not go away, parking brake staying on - anyone had this happen? How did you fix it?

The INDICATOR - yes. OPERATION - no. What there is, is that - on some Spyders - a Low Brake Fluid Level will light up the same warning light that the parking brake uses when it's engaged. But, there is no fluid level logic that prevents operation in either direction, which was the OP's issue -...

"Before operating read safety card" message will not go away, parking brake staying on - anyone had this happen? How did you fix it?

For the sake of accuracy, the parking brake on Spyders is mechanical. It doesn’t need brake fluid. But yes, because the parking brake moves the piston in the rear caliper, you can “feel” that if you have your foot on the brake pedal. But, it doesn’t use brake fluid to operate.

"Before operating read safety card" message will not go away, parking brake staying on - anyone had this happen? How did you fix it?

In that model year time frame, there were service bulletins for both the parking brake motor and the left hand multi-function switch. If your Mode button does nothing, then I think you are correct - that the switch has gone belly up. IIRC, on the F3, the switch can be replaced without needing to...

Display randomly switches from color to monochrome (and back) - anyone else? Any fixes?

An F3 Limited has the 7.8 inch wide display, right? Go into your display settings. It’s probably in Automatic. It’s light sensitive. And yes, too sensitive. Pick light or dark if you prefer.

2014 RT with intermittent buzzing noise - any ideas on what it might be?

With a 2014, Flying, do what Mikey says, but you can pump up and vent down the system with that Hard/Soft switch on your console. That will demand the air pump to run. In gear, parking brake off. If you still have the original air pump, they weren’t known to be quiet, nor known to last long.

2010 Spyder RT - anyone know what vacuum hose goes?

John. Love to help you with that hose. It's certainly not a MAP sensor hose, but the picture isn't good enough to be able go any further than that. Unless it's just some spare hose that got laid in there, it's most likely something important. See if you can get better images. Because you...

2014 RT with intermittent buzzing noise - any ideas on what it might be?

So, let’s try this. Go back out to the machine to start it. BUT FIRST, flip the kill switch to STOP. Then, turn on the key, acknowledge the safety card screen with the MODE button. Do everything to get ready to start it. Then flip the kill switch to RUN. If you hear the same noise for about the...

Looking for a 2008 GS Master Key - any ideas?

You're not going to find a dealer who would sell a Master Key... assuming they haven't lost theirs. And that's not what you need, anyway. Most people just buy this chipped blank, and have it cut and cloned to one of their existing Spyder's keys. Hard to find in stock anymore. Good luck with it...

Is the Alternator shaft squeal just a nuisance, or is it damaging anything?

For the sake of accuracy, the alternator is rated at 1200 watts and 90 amps. Any excessive current would cause the fuse link to blow. But to your point, yes. The components need to be designed to operate the equipment that they are meant to operate. The shaft used to work. Either this was a...

Is the Alternator shaft squeal just a nuisance, or is it damaging anything?

Yes, hoping that BRP steps up. They’re the ones that started the problem to begin with. Changing to a different oil doesn’t stop the slippage. It just makes it so that you don’t hear it. It’s still a slipper clutch disc issue because it’s slipping prematurely.

2010 RT key mechanism failing to open frunk - any suggestions on fixes? Or just go to a manual release?

Yeah. It’s frustrating. Now that it’s getting more use, things start failing. DESS 1.0 - first version - was very reliable. The programming was a royal pain, though, if you lost a key or had to replace an ignition switch. The problems with DESS started in the 2014 model year. We did discover...

2010 RT key mechanism failing to open frunk - any suggestions on fixes? Or just go to a manual release?

I have a long, skinny pair of needle nose pliers and forceps. Don’t believe I got my hands too far in. Once I got the cable back into place, I then just applied RTV to all of them to keep them in place. How were you planning to bypass DESS, since you have a 2010 and it can’t be done with BUDS...

2010 RT key mechanism failing to open frunk - any suggestions on fixes? Or just go to a manual release?

According to the manual, yes, the entire top console comes off in order to remove and service the ignition switch. Surprisingly, there's not that many fasteners. Removing the interference for access to them and to the electrical connectors is the biggest pain. The cable that locks the little...

Changed brake pads. Now my parking brake is flashing exclamation!

Well, to be thorough, let's revisit the codes again just to be sure. Take the thing out a bit around the block to ensure that the fault codes, if any, are Active. Keep an eye out for that orange screen that says Brake Failure. Without BUDS, you can only read Active codes at that exact time that...

Adding an aux powered fuse panel - want to make it switched. Need opinions

Then, take your choice. Both of those are switched and are ultimately fed from F3. Although, take care that you don’t put too large of a load in that 12v. If F3 blows, you’re dead in the water. Use the one in the rear trunk for the big stuff. Maybe consider a USB in there instead

Adding an aux powered fuse panel - want to make it switched. Need opinions

Those Orange/Red wires to that gauge come from Main relay #2, which would be just fine to operate a relay. And just to cover all bases, if you remove the analog fuel gauge also, if you haven't already, then the center LCD display will switch to displaying the fuel and temp as little digital bar...

Adding an aux powered fuse panel - want to make it switched. Need opinions

No, not on the 2012. Both ACC circuits are always hot, as you know. Download this, then you can open it up and zoom in without it getting all blurry. You can then find a place to tap in a relay if you'd like. Just a relay wouldn't use too much current. I assume that you are going to power the...

2012 Spyder RT sometimes stalls when slowing down to turn into a driveway or side road

Ok, so first and foremost, the idle speed on the 998 is not adjustable. Once it’s warmed up, 1400 RPM +/- 100. That is all electronically controlled through the fuel injection system and ECM. However, being that this is a 998, you'll want to check on the condition of the two vacuum lines going...
