When we bought a “new” leftover 2022 RTL in March of 2025, the dealership installed a new Yuasa battery. This dealership is large, but unfortunately, about a two hour ride from our house. When we took in the Spyder last month for the first service, they said the battery was bad, and would only charge to 12.3v. I had them replace the battery with a new Yuasa and I was told I needed to go to the selling retailer for the warranty claim. The warranty claim was they’d give me a non activated battery and acid pack but not cover the $229 replacement cost I’m out.
We charged our old battery monthly with it installed in the Spyder. I use a Schumacher SC1319 and have for several years and I previously used it to maintain the battery in our 2013 RTS.
Does anyone know what the installed current draw is on our batteries? (2022 RTL).
I’ve never had to keep a battery on a tender 100% of the time.
I’m in discussions with Yuasa about getting a $ refund. Given their latest response, if the battery fails I need to go to the selling dealership for the warranty claim. I asked them about a situation where I can’t get to the selling dealership without getting a new battery, like when you’re traveling. Can’t any Yuasa dealer handle the claim? At this point the company hasn’t answered that question and simply told me the selling retailer is who I need to go through.
Sorry for the ramble,
B
