• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

After 3 years of planning, I am riding Route 66 starting June 8

Hopefully it won't be raining when you get into Indiana.
Currently we are having a crazy weather month with lots
of rain showers. Just wanted you to know and be prepared.
Any how enjoy your Ryde Time and Always watch out for
the 'cagers'. Every State has a few these days. (y)

2 WEEKS AWAY!!!

Thank you BLUE. I have Gortex boots, rain gear, and water proof gloves. I am ready. I am also watching weather across the States I am going through.

Just a heads up. Currently raining here in Indiana. This is an all day rain. The temperatures are staying around 70s and above. (y)

I strongly recommend stopping by the Amboy Crater in California. It's on Route 66 near Amboy.
You can actually park and walk a mile or so to the top of the Crater and down into the center.
I stood on the top once about 40 years ago and watched fighter jets doing range practice many miles to the south. There was a tank, like a Sherman tank they were shooting at. It was there, then it wasn't! Lol
I noticed a closure on Route 66 just east of the Crater. Check it out, you may have to run I-40 to Kelbaker Rd, go south to Route 66, it's not far to the Amboy Crater.
I have stopped there several times in my truck.

Well the 8th of June is just two days away. Weather News People are saying
might be a rainy day here in Indiana. Just a heads up on rain.
Got the Rain gear and can get to it easily. It looks like I am going to hit some rain over the first two days and clear sailing after that. Thank you for the updates.

So if all is well, you start in the morning. I hope you stay dry tomorrow. The West is very hot right now, so stay hydrated, ride early, and quit early if you can. Hot dry winds expected over the next couple of days. Hope you have fun and can post lots of pictures.

Go extra slow in the rain. Even fully loaded, Spyders can easily hydroplane. I agree with Pegasus comments. Hydrate A LOT for days BEFORE getting into the heat here in the West. Look into getting an evaporative cooling vest. They are very inexpensive and effective. I kept one in an oversize zip-lock bag ready to use. Easy to re-soak every couple of hours at a gas station break. Enjoy your trip and post lots of updates and pictures if you can.

Last min (hopefully not too late), but keep track of the miles at gas stops, you might accidentally earn Iron Butt achievements.
Additionally, shared here b4:

That one was in Kingman Arizona at a gas station. Seen about 5 of them from Kingsman to Peach Springs Arizona maybe.

As well, possibly at each official RT66 tourist stop, they may have the RT66 wooden poker chips:

Not sure of this location:

As well as the various welcome to States signs along the way. (BTDT proof).

ENJOY

Well, today is June 8th. I hope you are ready to Start your great adventure (Route 66). Indiana is scheduled for rain in the afternoon. (till 7pm). Hopefully you can Ryde in the good weather 99% of your Trip. Anyhow, that's my wish for you.

Please take lots of pictures and post up often.
